hallowe’ed

This is one of the many weeds that came in with the truckload of compost we bought from a local dairy farmer last year. It’s beautiful, I think, in a weird, witchy way. I have no idea what it is.

Happy Hallowe’ed!

  1. Abutilon theophrasti ("velvetleaf"), maybe?

  2. That's it! Thanks, Mr. Subjunctive! It really does have soft, velvety leaves, and is quite pretty actually before it grows tall.

  3. It is Velvetleaf and the seed pods are great, aren't they? We used to use stiff hairspray on things like that and put them in a Fall Bouquet!

Hope you're having a great Fall!

  4. I was thinking it might be cool to spray paint the seed pods gold and use them for Christmas. Great minds, SG . . .
