abingdon square park, sunday

B and I took a walk through a small park near our apartment this afternoon. Boy, someone knows how to plant bulbs. We talked with a resident of one of the buildings bordering Abingdon Square Park; she told us that the gardens/gardeners are paid for by dues. This is money well spent. Just gorgeous!

Here’s another view:

Seems like we went straight from spring to summer this weekend. I know we still have a long way to go until Memorial Day (when the hot weather really settles over the city). It will cool down; we’ll have more showers and gray skies before then. But after this long, worrying winter, it was so good to see the sidewalks filled with smiling people this afternoon. A glorious day!

  1. Hello Jared ! What gorgeous planting of those bulbs : ) I can't imagine not enjoying them with a big smile : )
We have a tulip festival in our Capital city Ottawa (about 2.5 hours away from Kingston) it is all connected to the fact that we gave shelter to the Dutch Queen and her children in WW2 .. in her gratitude she made sure we had beautiful tulips for life in that special planting from her and her family. It is a wonderful story : )

  2. Hello, Joy! I would LOVE to see the tulip festival, and I can't think of a better way to thank someone (or a country) than with flowers. I was bowled over by this small display in our little park. And you would not believe the number of people taking pictures of it. I mean, it's just flowers, right? :)

  4. Gosh that is so pretty. And they sure thought about harmony didn't they? I do know what you mean about enjoying the smiles from the folks enjoying the Spring weather. It puts us all in an appreciative mood.
